- Abstract
- Summary Multidisciplinary cancer care includes integrating the knowledge and expertise of healthcare professionals to produce personalized care plans with patients and families. This chapter explores the background, standards, challenges, controversies, and initiatives faced by multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). Optimizing patient outcomes, communication issues, resources, and the lack of research are further explored. Future directions and observations, including artificial intelligence and patient-centred approaches, are discussed to improve the impact of MDTs on patient care, with an emphasis on quality improvement.
