- Abstract
- Invasive fungal disease is associated with significant morbidity and mortality but is an uncommon complication of treatment with biologic and targeted therapies. It does, however, occur in association with selected agents and when biologic therapies are combined with conventional immunosuppressants, including corticosteroids. Specific agents conferring increased risk of particular subtypes of invasive fungal disease include Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitors, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitors and tumour necrosis factor alpha inhibitors. Pre-treatment screening or chemoprophylaxis is recommended in some patient groups.
