Abstract
Epigenetic dysregulation is frequent across lymphoid malignancies and contributes to lymphomagenesis and disease behavior. The epigenome plays a key role in guiding normal lymphocyte development via regulation of gene expression by DNA methylation and chromatin modification. Altered methylation patterns are frequently seen in lymphoid cancers while key epigenetic regulators have been recognized to be recurrently mutated in specific entities. Such epigenetic alterations have led to a better understanding of mechanisms of lymphomagenesis and have been incorporated into our modern lymphoma classifications. Into the future they will provide key therapeutic targets.
